Stoner's Boy
by Seckatary Hawkins (Robert F. Schulkers)
illustrated by Carll B. Williams
The only copyright noted is 1926 by Robert F. Schulkers. Published by Seckatary
Hawkins Co. / Cincinnati, Ohio.
Based on the style and dustjacket design, this is likely a later printing
circa 1948.
Hardcover book with dustjacket. Original cloth cover is very good with light
wear. Dustjacket has hard-rubbed edges at the folds, some chips, small tears,
creasing about the edges, foxing to underside. Decorated endpages. A small
bookstore sticker is present at the bottom of the inside cover (John G.
Kidd & Son, Inc., Booksellers, Stationers, Engravers. Cincinnati.).
Previous owner's name has been blacked out with marker on the half-title
page. Half-title page, title page, and two pages of the introduction have
a crease at the lower-right corner. Pages are clean and in very good condition
- no writing, tears, or dogears. Some foxing/light soil to the closed page
edges.
"In this volume, Seckatary Hawkins tells how his "fair and square"
club was started on the old river bank, and how he and his chums would meet
everyday after school in their little clubhouse to solve the mystery of
"STONER'S BOY," an interesting, mysterious character who would
appear all of a sudden and disappear almost as quickly. The climax of this
story is one of the most thrilling any boy could wish for."
287 pages. A very nice copy of this out-of-print book.
